D.C. Drug Dealer's Son Has Same Name, Different Reputation

Today I was sent an article that was featured in the Washington Post about a young man named Tony Lewis. As I read the article it became evident that Mr. Lewis had an interesting story. We have all heard of the generational and family curses that plague people, especially those from the inner city. Young people tend to believe that they are destined to follow in the foot steps of their family members even if those footsteps lead to a life of crime, destruction, incarceration and/or even death. It is truly a proud moment when someone is successful despite the adversity they may have faced along the way.

I encourage you to click the link below to read the story of Mr. Tony Lewis. It is truly a good read (now would I steer you wrong?!)

Here is a Poem that embodies the story perfectly.

INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

-William Ernest Henley
